Railroad Symmetry

This railroad bridge built in 1898 withstood the great flood of 2008 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At the time the devastation was second only to Katrina in New Orleans. This bridge withstood the added pressure of dozens of unmoored houseboats that it collected from the Cedar River torrents.
The image itself is a study in symmetry as the convergent horizontal lines of the largest cereal mill in the world, Quaker Oats, coincide with the bridge structure and tracks.
